Performance : Planet [wanderer]

We are pleased to announce the Japan and Asia premiere tour of “Planet [wanderer],” a performance work by choreographer Damien Jalet and sculptor Kohei Nawa. The performances will be held at Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre and ROHM Theatre Kyoto in November 2025.
“Planet [wanderer]” is the second collaboration between Jalet and Nawa, following their acclaimed 2016 work “VESSEL*”. While “VESSEL” depicted two realms described in Japan’s oldest text Kojiki – Yomi (the land of the dead) and Takamagahara (the abode of the gods) – “Planet [wanderer]” explores a third realm: Ashihara no Nakatsukuni, the world in which we live today.
In this new work, humans are portrayed as reeds, swaying between power and fragility, harmony and survival, destruction and evolution. The subtitle “wanderer” also resonates with the original Greek meaning of “planet” as “that which wanders.” At the boundary between life and death, the performance reveals the inseparable relationship between the human body, the elements of the universe, and gravity itself. Through the unique collaboration of a Japanese sculptor and a European choreographer, “Planet [wanderer]” offers an unparalleled worldview.
*VESSEL: Nominated for Best New Dance Production at the 2020 Laurence Olivier Awards.
