Planet [wanderer]

《Planet [wanderer]》は、振付家 ダミアン・ジャレとの協働によるパフォーマンス作品。2016年に初演された《VESSEL》から連なるコラボレーション三部作のひとつであり、《VESSEL》が日本最古の書物『古事記』における「黄泉国（死者の世界）」と「高天原（神の住処）」を描いたのに対し、《Planet [wanderer]》では三つ目の世界である「葦原中国」――すなわち我々人間が生きる地上世界がモチーフとなっている。副題の「wanderer」は、「Planet（惑星）」の語源となるギリシャ語に含まれる「さまようもの」の意と呼応している。
舞台は、真っ暗な空間にうずくまる黒色の物体に、きらめく流星塵が降り注ぐ場面から始まる。遥かな時間と空間を超えて宇宙空間を放浪する微粒子――それが降り積もることで形成された惑星の地表で目覚めたダンサーたちは、雨や霧、光に呼応しながら姿形を変え、やがて歩きはじめる。そこにあらわれるのは、力と脆さ、調和と抵抗、絶滅と進化の間で揺れ動く生命の姿である。
重力や激しい環境変化に満ちた惑星、ひいては宇宙の中で、葦のようにゆらぎ、時としてさまよい歩くダンサーの肉体。そこには、この不安定な時代における人々の寄る辺なさと、それに抗う生命の躍動が同時にあらわされている。
