VESSEL

"VESSEL" is a collaboration with Damien Jalet, a choreographer and dancer who has infused his dance aesthetic with imagery of myths, and indigenous religions and rituals, to reflect the conflict between the body and mind. The primary basic concept and chosen term 'vessel' conveys the foundation to everything that is subsumed by life and death, and the cycles of the Earth. Their stage design incorporates a breadth of physical properties that extend to gases, liquids, and solids, as an attempt to create a dynamic fusion between the stage and the bodies of the dancers, who constantly transform physically. The distinctive 'headless' poses confer anonymity by concealing the apex of gender and identity, and express a worldview through sculptural, bodily expression.
